3" shank vs the 2.5" shank and adapter towing experience
ProPride 3P Trailer Sway Control Hitch
I have an F350 Diesel with a 3" hitch so I could use either a 2.5" with the adapter or a 3" shank. I want to understand how much better the experience would be towing with the 3" vs the 2.5". My concern is that with the 3" I'm very limited as to tow vehicles. There may be times where I'd need to tow with a different truck and the 3" would limit me to towing with bigger Ford Diesels. If the experience is much better I'd still opt for that.

Using the exact size hitch bar for your receiver reduces most of the side to side movement in the hitch bar, creating the tightest fit possible. Reducer sleeves tend to work well when new, then get looser as they start to deteriorate over time. Any hitch bar movement side to side will directly transfer to the trailer behind it. So the tighter the fit, the less movement.
